This used to be a free event….Restricting it to those who can pay the ticket price goes against the principle of spreading literacy and generating interest in Canadian books, supposedly the mandate of the award.

The Giller Prize readings have always been offered as an economically priced paid event, hosted at different venues in Toronto over the years. In recent years, we’ve also provided brief readings videos via the Giller Prize YouTube channel. This year, we’re thrilled to present live readings events in Halifax, Toronto and Vancouver … and for those who can’t attend in person, the Toronto event will again be livestreamed (and then archived, as was last year’s event) via the Scotiabank Giller Prize web site and Facebook page.
I love watching the Gillers from home, but don’t have an actual TV set. Is there a way to watch online? That’s what I did last year, but I don’t see the option listed above…
You can find options for viewing the Giller Prize gala event here:

You might also want to consider attending a Giller Light event, where you can enjoy the broadcast with other booklovers and help support literacy programs.
Thanks!
Can you purchase tickets for the 2015 Giller Awards or is it by invitation only?
The Scotiabank Giller Prize gala is by invitation only. We encourage everyone to take part in Giller Light events if they are available in your city (see more information at: http://gillerlightbash.com/) The events are a lot of fun, spent with fellow booklovers and supporting worthy literacy causes and initiatives. Whether you attend (or maybe start) an event like that or not, be sure to tune in to the CBC Television broadcast.
How can I purchase tickets for the Nov 6 ‘Between the Pages’ even in Toronto?
