Scotiabank Giller Prize

Crazy for Canlit 2011!

The Scotiabank Giller Prize and CBC Books have teamed up to bring you exciting contests, prizes and spaces for discussion to celebrate Canadian literary fiction, including all the books below that were eligible for the longlist.

For the first time ever, this year’s Scotiabank Giller Prize reserved a spot on the longlist for a book chosen by the public. After launching in early August, The Readers’ Choice contest received more than 4,000 entries from readers wanting to have their say. Myrna Dey’s debut novel Extensions received the most nominations and is this year’s Readers’ Choice.

Congratulations to Esi Edugyan, the 2011 Scotiabank Giller Prize winner for her novel, Half-Blood Blues. A special thanks and warm congratulations to all of this year’s shortlisted and longlisted finalists. The nominees in the running for this year’s prize were an outstanding group with enormous talent.

Thank you to everyone for participating!
We look forward to 2012 and another great year for the Scotiabank Giller Prize.
